| Description | Oikos of Naxians on Delos, view of west. The buildings dedicated by the Naxians to Apollo. Pre-Oikos (cca -700) was a long rectangular building with two rows of columns inside. The columns were wooden. In cca -620 / -600 the building acquired the plan wich has come down to us. Once again it was a long rectangular structure built of large granite blocks with one row of columns on the long axis. The main entrance opened in the west side had two columns in antis making an antechamber. In the sekos was colonade of 8 delicate doric columns on a drum on a circular base. In -600 / -580 a marble floor and the prostoon with 4 columns were added to the east side. The roof was of marble tiles and gorgons were carved on the antefixes. Against the north wall the Naxians erected a colossal statue of Apollo, depicted as a kouros. Quite left is Great Temple of Apollo (Temple of Delians).
