| Description | Temple of Apollo on islet Palatina near Chora, Naxos. There had been as early (-850/-700) an open-air sanctuary, consisting of a temenos with an altar. The archaic temple let build Lygdamis, tyrannos of Naxos. The temple was Ionic, 50m long, 28m wide, with peristyle of 6 x 12 columns with double porticos at each end. The interior was tripartite. The temple was unfinished. |
